Dicas para dar banho em cães agressivos
Não, o Barthô não é agressivo durante o banho! Mas esta é uma situação muito comum e que costuma gerar bastante estresse, tanto para os tutores quanto para os cães, além de ser um risco para as pessoas que forem dar o banho.
Pensando exatamente nos riscos, a tendência é que a agressividade do cão se agrave a cada situação, pois no momento em que as pessoas levam uma mordida e/ou tomam um susto e pulam para trás, acabam sem querer mostrando para o bichinho que este comportamento serve para acabar com o banho, que não está legal. E então, o cão vai tentar afastar o que incomoda no banho com rosnados, latidos e mordidas.
Outro problema é que a pessoa pode não conseguir finalizar o banho completo diante da agressividade e o cão pode terminar molhado ou até mesmo cheio de shampoo pelo corpo…
Como fazer então?
A primeira dica é começar ao contrário, ou seja, sem dar o banho completo, mas ir fazendo treinos para o cão se acostumar com cada etapa: secar, tirar shampoo, ensaboar, etc. Além disso, dependendo da agressividade, primeiro é indicado fazer o cão se acostumar ao uso da focinheira.
O treino
Para fazer o cão se acostumar com cada uma dessas etapas (usar focinheira, molhar, ensaboar e esfregar, tirar o shampoo, secar com toalha e secar com secador) o indicado é associar essas situações com algo que ele goste muito, um petisco bem gostoso, por exemplo.
Assim, começa-se em algum lugar neutro e, enquanto o cão está comendo o petisco, a pessoa vai passando a toalha ou massageando como se estivesse passando o shampoo. No caso da focinheira (a mais indicada é a do tipo cesto, que não impede de respirar normalmente), fazer com que o cão tenha que colocar o focinho dentro dela para comer a guloseima.
Tudo isso na medida certa, ou seja, sendo feito sem que o cachorro demonstre sinais de estresse ou agressividade. Fazer várias sessões até que ele se mostre absolutamente confortável na situação, sempre com calma e prezando pela segurança de todos.
Somente então é indicado começar a agrupar todas as etapas do banho, mas ainda sem colocar o cão embaixo da água e começar um banho para valer.
Aliás, um banho propriamente dito só deve ser dado quando o cão já tiver demonstrado estar tranquilo e achando a situação prazerosa, já que ganha algo que gosta muito e o deixa muito motivado!
Vale a pena investir neste treino pois, mesmo quem não queira dar banho num cão agressivo, algum dia este procedimento (assim como outros que demandam manipular o pet) pode ser necessário e aí ficará muito mais difícil.
